Privacy Policy

● Last updated 29 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Bitaura Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the Contacts mobile application (the "App", package com.bitaura.contacts). By installing or using the App you agree to the practices described here.

In short: your contacts, call log, and phone data stay on your device (and in your own Google/device account if you choose to sync). If you set Contacts as your default phone app, it handles your incoming and outgoing calls entirely on your device — we never record calls, listen in, or see who you call. We do not upload, sell, or rent your contacts, call log, or messages, and the App has no caller-ID lookup or server-side directory. The App is free and supported by ads (Google AdMob): to show ads, Google and its ad partners process your device's advertising identifier and similar ad data. In the EEA/UK we ask for your consent first. We also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the App is used so we can improve it.

1.Information the App accesses

On-device data (not collected by us)

With your permission, the App reads and writes the following on your device to provide its core features. This data is processed locally and is not transmitted to our servers:

  • Contacts — to display, search, create, edit, delete, merge, and export your contacts. Contacts you create are saved to the account you choose (e.g. your device or Google account).
  • Call log — to show your recent calls (Recents) and call history.
  • Phone / telephony — to place calls, detect SIMs for dual-SIM calling, and manage number blocking.
  • Default phone app (optional) — if you choose to set Contacts as your default phone app, Android routes your incoming and outgoing calls through the App so it can show the call screen, let you answer/decline, mute, hold, add a second call and merge calls, and automatically reject numbers on your block list. All of this happens on your device; call audio and who you call are never sent to us.
  • Camera — used only to (a) take a contact photo if you choose to, and (b) blink the flashlight/torch for incoming calls when you turn on “Flash on call”. The torch feature captures no images, and the App does not upload any photo or video.
  • Photos / media — to let you pick a contact photo from your gallery.
  • Notifications — to show incoming-call alerts and optional on-device birthday reminders.
  • On-device preferences — your settings (chosen language, incoming-call style, answer-button position, flash-on-call, speed-dial assignments, and your blocked-number list) are stored locally on your device.

The App cannot write contacts to the physical SIM card — Android reserves that to the system. SIM is used only for calling.

Analytics & diagnostics (collected)

The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated usage and diagnostic information such as:

  • Events and screens used (e.g. a call was placed, a contact was added or exported), without the content of your contacts or messages;
  • Approximate, non-identifying device and app information (device model, OS version, app version, language, country/region, a reset-table app instance identifier).

This helps us understand feature usage and improve the App. We do not use it to identify you personally, and the content of your contacts, numbers dialled, messages, or call recordings is never sent as analytics data.

Advertising data (collected)

The App is free and shows ads through Google AdMob (and, in future, additional ad networks used as fallbacks — see §3). To select and measure ads, Google and its ad partners may collect and process:

  • your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID / AD_ID) and similar identifiers;
  • approximate, coarse information such as device type, OS/app version, general (non-precise) location derived from IP, and ad-interaction events (ad shown, clicked);
  • data used to limit how often you see an ad, measure performance, and detect invalid activity/fraud.

Ads are never shown on the incoming-call, in-call, or lock screen, and the content of your contacts, call log, and messages is never shared with ad partners. We do not show ads to users who have purchased “Remove ads” (where offered).

Your consent (EEA/UK): before serving personalized ads in the European Economic Area and the UK, the App presents a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). You can change your choice later; where consent is declined or not required, ads may be shown on a non-personalized basis.

2.How we use information

  • To provide and operate the App's features (dialer, call handling as your default phone app, recents, contacts, merging, number blocking, speed dial, and export).
  • To analyse aggregated usage and fix problems, improving performance and reliability.
  • To display ads that keep the App free, including limiting ad frequency and measuring ad performance.
  • To notify you about important updates to the App.

We do not sell your personal information. We share the limited advertising data described in §1 with ad partners solely to serve and measure ads; under some privacy laws (e.g. California) this ad activity may be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, which you can limit via the consent controls and your device's ad settings.

3.Third-party services

The App relies on the following third-party services, which process limited data under their own privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics / Remote Config) — usage analytics and remote configuration (including ad settings and update notifications). See the Firebase Privacy page and Google Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdMob — serves the ads that keep the App free and processes advertising identifiers/ad data as described in §1. See How Google uses data and the Google partner policy.
  • Additional ad networks (fallback mediation) — the App is built to use other ad networks as fallbacks, which may be enabled over time, such as Meta Audience Network, Google Ad Manager (AdX), and AppLovin. When enabled, each processes ad data under its own privacy policy.
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) — collects and stores your ad-consent choice (EEA/UK).
  • Google Play Services — required platform services on Android.

When you choose to share or export a contact (as a .vcf file), the destination app you pick (e.g. email, messaging, cloud storage) handles that data under its own policy.

4.Permissions

Android asks for your consent before granting each permission, and you can review each one's status (and request or revoke it) inside the App under Settings → Permissions, or anytime in System Settings → Apps → Contacts → Permissions. Revoking a permission may disable the related feature.

  • Contacts, Call log, Phone — core calling and contact features.
  • Default phone app role — optional; needed to show the in-app call screen, delete call-log entries, and enforce number blocking. You can switch your default phone app back at any time in system settings.
  • Camera — contact photos and the optional flash-on-call feature.
  • Notifications — incoming-call alerts and birthday reminders.

5.Data retention

On-device data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App (data in a synced account follows that account's own retention). Aggregated analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's default retention settings.

6.Children's privacy

The App is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7.Your choices & rights

  • Grant or revoke permissions at any time in system settings.
  • Delete contacts or data directly within the App or on your device.
  • Uninstall the App to stop all on-device processing.
  • Manage ads: change your EEA/UK ad-consent choice when prompted, and reset or opt out of ad personalization via Android Settings → Privacy / Ads (reset or delete your Advertising ID).
  • Depending on your region (e.g. EEA/UK, California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Contact us using the details below.

8.Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9.Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
